British novelist Elizabeth Jane Howard once said, “Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.” Human beings are naturally social, have gathered in tribes for millions of years and social technologies allow people to form and coordinate more easily than ever. According to the book ‘Tribal Leadership’ organisations inevitably develop internal tribes – groups of between 20 and 150 members with interlocking ties.
